Domestic Violence Call Leads To Discovery Of Stolen Aston Martin

POSTED: Monday, August 13, 2007
UPDATED: 8:16 pm EDT August 13, 2007

Clay County deputies responding to a domestic dispute made a shocking find Sunday afternoon when they discovered a stolen Aston Martin in the garage of the home to which they responded.

The discovery was made in an Orange Park neighborhood after a woman reported to authorities that her husband, 24-year-old Michael Haytaian, pushed her down on the floor and put her in a choke hold after the couple had an argument about her place of employment.

According to a police report, the victim was able to get away and left her home but was followed by her husband for several miles.

The responding officer reported observing bruises on the victim's arms and a red area on her neck and chest.

Haytaian was arrested and charged with battery and domestic violence.

After her husband's arrest, the victim told police she thought the Aston Martin in her garage was stolen and asked them to check the car.

"Subsequent to the arrest, the victim of the domestic battery called us back to say that she believed that the vehicle that was in her garage was in fact stolen. Apparently, the car was secured in the garage while we were there and the victim called us back -- that's a little unusual," Bramlitt said.

Deputies discovered the car had been stolen from Clearwater Police Department. The $180,000 Aston Martin had a tag registered to a trailer, according to authorities.

"I believe the most stolen vehicle these days are the Honda Civics, Honda Preludes -- any of your smaller compact cars," said CCSO Lt. Richard Bramlitt.

Some neighbors told Channel 4 that the Haytaians were new and that they only saw the Aston Martin a few times.

"Aston Martin is a nice car. I'm surprised it was next door," said neighbor Sunil Dharma.

Haytaians told Channel 4 that the car was not stolen and that he had the bill of sale. He said the car was the product of a business deal gone bad.

Haytaian was not charged in connection with the stolen vehicle.
