2 Ejected On Suwannee River; 1 Hospitalized

Two men were ejected from a boat on the Suwannee River on Monday evening and one of them is still missing, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission said on Tuesday.
The boat's operator, Brian Norris, 28, of Chiefland, was able to make it to shore and then was transported to Shands Medical Center in Gainesville.
Roderick Page, 22, of Chiefland remains missing. It is not known if he was wearing a life jacket.
The two men were traveling south near Fowlers Bluff in a 12-foot aluminum johnboat powered by an outboard motor. Norris said a large fish jumped out of the water in front of the boat. Norris said he swerved, and both men were ejected into the water.
Personnel from the FWC, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Coast Guard and Levy and Citrus County sheriff's offices were conducting search-and-rescue operations.
Wildlife officials have warned boaters about sturgeon jumping out of the water in parts of the Suwannee River. At least five people have been injured this year in encounters with the prehistoric-looking fish, which can grow up to 8-feet long and weigh up to 200 pounds.
Gulf sturgeon migrate into the Suwannee in March to spawn, and remain in the river until the fall. Researchers are not sure why the large fish jump.
FWC officials said they continue to investigate whether a sturgeon was a contributing factor in this accident.
