The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying a robber who held up a Julington Creek bank last month.
Deputies responded to Wachovia Bank in the 400 block of state Road 13 North shortly after 11 a.m. on Sept. 15.
Witnesses stated that the man entered the bank shortly before 11 a.m. and waited in line for a customer before approaching the counter. The robber, who carried a black fanny pack-type nylon bag, pulled out a black handgun as he approached the teller and demanded money.
A large amount of cash was turned over to the man, who then fled out the door.
Witnesses did not know if the suspect fled on foot or got into a vehicle.
The suspect was described as a white man, 30 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 9 inches tall, 200 pounds and was unshaven. He was wearing a dark colored polo shirt with vertical stripes and a ball cap.
