JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A gym teacher at a Jacksonville middle school was arrested after police said he encouraged a father to come to the school and beat his son with a belt.
Aaron "Coach" Jackson, a teacher at Paxon Middle School, has been charged with child neglect and encouraging someone to commit an act resulting in injury to a child.
Authorities said Jackson called 41-year-old Henry Crimes and told him to come to the school with a belt to discipline his 13-year-old son.
The police report says Crimes told investigators, "Coach Jackson sent a child with his key to open the door so I could beat my child for misbehaving. I hit my son with the belt about twice and he fell down. I told him to get up. When he got up, I hit him some more, then he fell again. When my son got up again, I hit him a few more times, then I made him go to Coach Jackson to apologize …"
Crimes was arrested earlier this week. He is charged with child abuse.
Jackson has been reassigned at Paxon, pending the investigation.
The 13-year-old was placed in the custody of a child protective investigator.
