14-foot great white shark tracked off Volusia coast

2,300-pound shark being tracked off coast

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 23,000 pound great white shark is being tracked off the Volusia County coastline.

Scientists call the 14-foot shark Katharine. Katharine was originally caught near Cape Cod and scientists attached a tracking device to her fin.

Since Katharine was caught, she has traveled nearly 2,000 miles down to the Florida coast.

The location of the shark is determined by a ping based on when the shark breaks the surface of water.

The latest ping shows it swimming just off Daytona Beach Shores. Track the shark yourself by clicking here.
