Single-Car Crash On Atlantic Critically Injures 2

POSTED: Friday, January 18, 2008

Two women were critically injured when the car they were in left Atlantic Boulevard and struck a tree just before 4 a.m. Friday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Sicilly Dye, 19, lost control of her 1999 Pontiac as she was westbound near the intersection of Sutton Lakes Boulevard. The car spun around, entered the median and the passenger door struck a palm tree.

Hall and passenger Melanie Holton, 22, were transported to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center with what troopers described as critical injuries.

Lanes of Atlantic Boulevard were closed for at least 90 minutes while troopers investigated and crews cleared the wreckage.

The FHP said charges were pending.
