Man Killed, Teen Shot In Middleburg Dispute

POSTED: Friday, January 25, 2008

A 32-year-old man was shot and killed and a 14-year-old girl was injured in a double shooting Friday night in Middleburg Friday.

The shooting occurred about 7:40 p.m. on Old Dine Field Road. Clay County deputies said they believe the two victims were arguing with neighbors when shots were fired.

One man died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. The girl, shot once in the leg, was taken to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition.

The names of the victims were not immediately released.

Deputies said they recovered a gun at the scene and questioned a man in the case, but no arrests were made Friday night.

This was the first homicide in Clay County this year.
