JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Crime scene tape was up in the 3500 block of University Boulevard North Wednesday afternoon as homicide detectives were called to an apartment complex.
Police were called to the River Bend Apartments at about 1 p.m.
Law enforcement officials told Channel 4 they were investigating an undetermined death after a maintenance man found a man's body in an apartment.
Thursday afternoon, police identified the victim as 45-year-old Jeffery Hardiman. They did not reveal the cause of death, but said they were continued to investigate the death as a homicide.
Riverbend residents said investigators blocked off at least three apartment buildings near the back of the apartment complex.
"When we were coming in, it was already roped off and there were several cop cars kind of blocking it and not letting anyone in. I saw a car coming out, but that's it. There were people standing around but no one knew what was going on," said resident Brittany Rogers.
Investigators said they were not calling the death a result of foul play.
