Broward Student Hacks Into District's Computer System

POSTED: Tuesday, March 25, 2008

Authorities said a Broward County student hacked into the district's computer system, accessing information about his classmates and teacher.

Coconut police are investigating whether 18-year-old Michael Wasa did anything with the information. Charges have not been filed against him.

Authorities said he also disabled the program that allowed his teacher to keep watch on the students at Atlantic Technical Center.

A working phone number for Wasa could not be located.

Records show he had a password hacker program, a folder about making bombs, and software on his computer to make fake credit card numbers.

Wasa is also a high school student, but takes some classes at Atlanta Tech.

School officials have warned all 38,000 employees about the breach.
