JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville woman died late Thursday evening after a single-car crash on Interstate 95 just north of state Road 9A.
The fatal wreck took place at about 11:10 p.m., when the vehicle in which 50-year-old Pamela Joy Corl was traveling began to fishtail.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the vehicle was towing a travel trailer. Investigators said the driver, 47-year-old Danner Brown, overcorrected when his vehicle began to fishtail, causing it skid and overturn.
Corl was thrown from the vehicle on to the shoulder of the highway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brown suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Baptist Hospital South in Jacksonville.
Neither the driver nor passenger was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to a report from FHP.
Charges may be filed, pending further investigation into the wreck.
