'Friends' Donate $150,000 To Library

POSTED: Thursday, May 1, 2008

The Jacksonville Public Library got boost on Wednesday in the form of a big check.

The Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library held a book sale in March at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds, with used books on sale for as little as 50 cents each. Those small amounts added up, allowing the group to present a $150,000 check to library officials.

The money -- the largest donation Friends of the Public Library has ever made -- will be spent on various improvements at the branches around town.
