Man Wanted In Kingsland Slaying Arrested In South Florida

Victim's Family Frustrated By Lack Of Information

POSTED: Saturday, May 3, 2008

A man charged with murder in the death of a 21-year-old woman found dead in a Kingsland hotel in February was arrested Friday by U.S. marshals in Florida City, south of Miami.

According to warrants obtained by Kingsland police, Amos Southall, 27, is accused of killing 21-year-old Michelle Hainley.

Hainley was found dead Feb. 26 inside a room of the Ramada Inn.

The victim's car was later found in a St. Marys apartment complex and the man driving it was arrested on an outstanding drug warrant, but he was never charged in connection with her death.

Hainley, the mother of a 3-year-old boy, was living with her parents in Yulee.

Police have not released details of her killing or the motive behind it, even to Hainley's immediate family.

"We need to know answers. My grandson needs to know answers," said Hainley's mother, Linda Johnson.

The family said Hainley went to Georgia to spend the night with some friends and never came home.

"Everybody says it gets easier. It does not get easier," said sister-in-law Tina McMillan. "It gets worse when you don't have the answers."

Family members said Hainley's son is too young to understand what happened, but they want to make sure he grows up knowing a lot about his mother.

Southall was being held without bail in Dade County pending extradition to Georgia.
