East Palatka Man Accused Of Trading Child Porn

POSTED: Thursday, May 8, 2008

A 28-year-old East Palatka man was arrested Wednesday morning after child pornography was found in his home, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Matthew Phillip Bowen was arrested after sheriff’s deputies, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and an agent of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement executed a search warrant at his home in the 100 block of Browning Lane.

Deputies said the investigation in to Bowen began on April 28 when investigators with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office told them child pornography and video files were being traded with an Internet address in Putnam County.

Seized in the search were several compact disks, DVDs, computer hard disk drives and two laptop computers. The items will be examined by a FDLE forensic computer specialist.

Deputies said additional charges could filed based on what is found on the electronic media and computers seized during the search.

Bowen was booked into the Putnam County Jail charged with possession of child pornography and promoting the sexual performance of a child and ordered held on $5,008 bond.
