Palm Coast Man Gets 15-Year Sentence For Stabbing

BUNNELL, Fla. -- A Palm Coast man who repeatedly stabbed another man during a fight is facing 10 years in prison and five years of probation.
Ryan Eldridge, 21, was sentenced Thursday in Bunnell for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
He stabbed 31-year-old Marvin Carlin four times during a 2006 brawl.
The victim testified that he lost his analytical abilities after a massive stroke brought on by the stab wounds.
Assistant State Attorney Steve Gosney said this would have been a murder case had emergency responders not stepped in.
Eldridge's attorney lost the argument to sentence Eldridge under the Florida Youthful Offenders Act, which allows a maximum six-year sentence for offenders who broke the law before their 21st birthday.
Carlin said he had hoped Eldridge would get life in prison but thought the judge made a good decision.
