POSTED: Wednesday, June 4, 2008
UPDATED: 5:52 pm EDT June 4, 2008

The investigation of a crash that killed five men in January has led to charges against two women.

Five men, including a Jacksonville University football player died in earlier this year when, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, a car traveling at a high rate of speed on a private airplane runway in Ocala flew off the runway and went about 160 feet before smashing into a tree.

At impact, the vehicle split in half and the car's engine separated from the vehicle, scattering pieces of the car over about a 200 square foot area.

Three of the five occupants were ejected from the vehicle and all were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Mike Burroughs said.

Jacob Casey, a freshman Jacksonville University football player was among the five killed in the wreck.

The other victims were identified as Joshua D. Ammirato, 18, of Fairfield, who was identified as the driver of the $75,000 car; Dustin J. Dawe, 19, also of Fairfield; James Devon Hime, 19, of Anthony; and Isaac Rubin, 20, from Ocala.

Investigators said Casey had come from a house party with his friends. They also said although all five victims had been at the party, the driver did not have alcohol in his system.

Now, police are charging Jolane McAlister with providing alcohol to minors at that party. They've also charged Natalie Thayer with making a false police report in connection with the crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol said more charges may follow.
