ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A 6-year-old boy was hospitalized with severe facial wounds after he was bitten in the face by a dog.
According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, Nyesuah Barclay was at the home of a 16-year-old baby sitter Monday morning and playing with one of the dog's toys when he was bitten in the right cheek by the 1-year-old boxer.
The babysitter's parents took Barclay to Orange Park Medical Center, then transferred to Wolfson Children’s Hospital, where he will undergo surgery.
Clay County Animal Control joined sheriff's deputies in an investigation of the incident.
Authorities was told that since the dog's shots were up to date and the dog was provoked, the animal was allowed to stay, but will be on in-home quarantine for 10 days.
A representative from Wolfson's Children Hospital said the 6-year-old victim was in fair condition Monday afternoon.
