ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The FBI confirmed on Thursday that St. Johns County Board of Commissioners chairman Thomas Manuel is part of a criminal investigation, Channel 4 reported.
The FBI's Public Corruptions Unit is handling the investigation.
FBI officials have not released additional details.
When asked if other board members are being investigated as well, the FBI had no comment.
Manuel told Channel 4 by phone that he categorically denies that he did anything wrong and he categorically denied that he's ever been in contact with the FBI.
Manuel said he believes this is politically motivated.
