BARTOW, Fla. -- A Central Florida sheriff's deputy was charged with driving under the influence after he was found passed out in a truck sitting in the middle of a road.
Deputy Sheriff Jesus Contreras Jr., was arrested just after 6 a.m. Sunday after being found by another deputy.
The deputy said she spotted Contreras asleep in the truck, which was pointed in the wrong direction in the middle of a Old Polk City Road with its headlights on.
The 22-year-old failed a sobriety test and was taken to the Polk County Jail. The charge carries a $500 bond.
Contreras was hired in September 2006. He has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
