Alachua Deputies Investigate Abduction, Rape

UPDATED: 7:40 pm EDT July 9, 2008

Alachua County deputies are looking for three men accused of abducting a 20-year-old woman at gunpoint, taking her to an apartment and raping her.

Investigators said the woman was kidnapped as she walked to her car in the parking lot of the Waffle House on Newberry Road about 4 a.m. Saturday.

"She was having some difficulty relaying the story because of the traumatic nature of the incident," said Detective Tyson Elliot, the lead investigator.

Investigators said the attackers took the woman to an apartment in the Linton Oaks neighborhood and all three raped her.

The woman could only provide a good description of one her attackers: a black man, 5 feet 8 inches tall with short hair and acne. He was wearing a black shirt, white shorts with black markings on them and black shoes.

She told deputies she was transported in a cream-colored Cadillac with custom rims and TV installed inside.

Police are investigating any possible connection with a rape that occurred in Haile Plantation neighborhood in May that remains unsolved.

"Both of them, being as violent as they were, it's pretty rare," Elliot said. "We don't have any evidence right now to suggest that they are linked in any way."

Anyone with information about the attackers or the owner of the vehicle is asked to call Crimestoppers at 352-372-STOP.
