JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 65-year-old man believed to have met someone about selling a car never returned home and police and his family are looking for him and the vehicle.
Peter Cagle was reported missing Tuesday morning after he failed to meet his adult son for a trip out of town.
His family told police that Cagle was selling an old car -- a blue, 1980s Toyota Tercell hatchback with a Florida dealer tag number MHS-57G. They believe he drove the car to meet with a potential buyer, but they do not know the location.
Cagle is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall weighing 185 pounds. He has brown eyes and thinning brown hair.
Cagle's family said he retired from a banking job earlier this year and started a business with his son selling cars.
Cagle is know for starting a soup kitchen at the Beaches and is a regular volunteer with Catholic Charities.
"He is one of the most giving, loving, kind people I've ever known," said Linda Elian, a family friend for 40 years. "He was always giving to someone else, always taking care of someone else."
Anyone who has seen Cagle or has any information about his whereabouts is asked to call 904-630-0500.
