POSTED: Saturday, July 12, 2008
St. Johns County deputies arrested three teenagers after a party got out of hand and landed a 14-year-old girl in the hospital.
Deputies said that up to 60 people -- most of them under 21 -- gathered Friday night at a house on Cornel Road to celebrate a birthday.
Most of the attendees were underage, but investigators said a large amount of alcohol was consume at the party.
A 14-year-old girl attending the party passed out. Authorities said she was heavily intoxicated.
Some guests at the party tried to revive her but it didn't work, so two men took her to Flagler hospital. She was then transferred to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center, where she was in fair condition on Saturday afternoon.
The two 19-year-olds that hosted the party -- Jonathan Gagnon and Justin Burt -- were charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and having an open house party.
Noah Bryant, 18, who deputies said took the girl to the party, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The 14-year-old's father told deputies he thought his daughter was asleep in her room until he got the call from the hospital.
Authorities said she got medical attention just in time and is recovering. They credit the two partygoers who brought the girl to Flagler Hospital at 3 a.m. with possibly saving her life.
