FHP: Pickup Driver Says He Didn't See Scooter

POSTED: Tuesday, July 22, 2008

A 49-year-old Flagler Beach woman died Monday night after she was struck by a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 1.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Patricia Peace was going south about 5:35 p.m. when a pickup driven by Jonathan Pearson, 43, of Ormond Beach, struck her scooter.

Peace was ejected from the scooter and run over by the pickup. She was taken to Ormond Hospital, where she died.

Pearson told troopers that he did not see the scooter.

The FHP said charges were pending against Pearson.
