Husband, Wife Slain By Gunman 'Out To Kill'

Child Hit In Leg, Back With Family

UPDATED: 7:34 pm EDT July 23, 2008

Police responding to reports of screams and gunfire coming from a Westside townhouse Tuesday night found a man and a woman dead and their 3-year-old son grazed by a bullet.

Officers found one body outside and another inside the unit in the 8300 block of Homeport Court, just south of 103rd Street about 9:30 p.m.

Police identified the victims as 30-year-old Reginald Williams and 24-year-old Keiyoda Williams. In addition to the toddler, the couple's 1-year-old daughter and 10-year-old niece were in the home at the time of the shooting.

"He was out to kill anybody that was out here," said one neighbor who was too scared to provide her name. "He was just shooting."

Witnesses said the shooter had two guns -- one a shotgun -- and fired dozens of shots.

"They left and then came back again," the neighbor said. "After people were already dead, they came back again and started shooting again at them."

They said the man was shot several times in the face and the woman was shot in the back of the head.

"She started screaming, then we heard gunshots and she wasn't screaming no more," a neighbor told Channel 4's Jennifer Bauer.

One witness said "he was taking his time killing."

Neighbors said the gunman left in a silver pickup truck driven by a second man.

The 3-year-old was treated at Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center, but his grandmother said he was released to a family member.

Detectives remained at the scene Wednesday, gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses. Police said they have not made any arrests.

Anyone with information that could help police is asked to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
