New Ramp Connecting 9A North, JTB West Opens

POSTED: Monday, August 4, 2008
UPDATED: 1:10 pm EDT August 4, 2008

Commuters on the Southside got a little more relief on Monday morning when a new ramp was opened on state Road 9A.

The connection between 9A north and J. Turner Butler Boulevard westbound opened up shortly before 11 a.m.

A week ago, the westbound ramp to 9A southbound opened and the last traffic signal from Jacksonville's easterly highway bypass was removed.

Two ramps remain under construction as part of the new $84 million interchange at 9A and JTB.

The movement from 9A south to JTB eastbound is scheduled to open in late August or early September, and the ramp from JTB eastbound to 9A northbound should be open to traffic in October, according to the Department of Transportation.
