UPDATED: 11:27 pm EDT August 29, 2008

Jacksonville police were investigating a double shooting in the Arlington area Friday night.

The shooting took place in the River Bend Apartments in the 3500 block of University Boulevard North.

Officers said when they arrived they found two men who had been shot.

"There was five gunshots and then one shot. The guy started hollering, 'Help me. Help me.' So I went and walked outside, and there were three ladies standing around him that had done called 911. We got two towels and held pressure on his stomach until the ambulance got there," said a witness who asked not to be identified. "I took the phone out of his pocket and called his momma, and got ahold of his aunt and his grandmother, and told them he'd be going to Shands."

The victims' conditions were not immediately known. Police have not made any arrests in the case.

Anyone with information that could help police is asked to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
