JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The ring leader who pleaded guilty to running a multicounty drug operation responsible for trafficking more than 75 kilos of cocaine was sentenced Wednesday to 17 years in prison, according to Attorney General Bill McCollum.
Telsa Robinson, 34, was prosecuted for criminal racketeering and conspiracy to traffic cocaine.
Prosecutors said Robinson was the leader of a drug trafficking organization that operated in Duval, Clay, and Miami-Dade counties and supplied narcotics to parts of Georgia.
Robinson and 12 co-defendants were arrested in July 2004 after an investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Several co-defendants have already been convicted and have received sentences ranging from several years in prison to terms in the county jail.
