Manatee To Be Moved From Cape Cod To Florida

DENNIS, Mass. -- Wildlife officials are hoping to capture a manatee that has gotten lost in chilly Cape Cod waters and move it to Florida.Chris Cutter of the International Fund for Animal Welfare said experts plan to capture the manatee at daybreak Saturday.Manatees are normally found off Georgia and Florida. They aren't used to the Cape's increasingly cold waters and if the animals get too cold, they stop feeding.The rescue would involve trapping the manatee and moving it with crane onto a sort of hammock. The animal would be examined, and then driven to Florida in a refrigerated truck.
