Teen Killed Directing Cars Around Injured Dog

PALM COAST, Fla. -- A 19-year-old steering traffic away from her injured dog Wednesday night died after she was hit by a car.
The Florida Highway Patrol said 19-year-old Samantha J. Schleh and Michael H. Griffin, 23, were standing in the middle of state Road A1A near Mala Compra Drive just after 9 p.m. Thursday, trying to direct traffic around the spot where their dog was hit by a car.
Troopers said another car came by, clipped Griffin and struck Schleh.
Schleh was taken to Florida Hospital, where she died. Griffin suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
The FHP said the driver of the car, Charles Crowe, 50, also suffered minor injuries.
Troopers said there were no streetlights in the area. According to the incident report, no charges were filed.
The FHP did not indicated what happened to the dog.
