JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Southside tattoo shop owner was picking up the pieces after a van crashed into his storefront and sent two of his employees to an area hospital.
The van plowed into the front of the Peacock's Tattoo parlor in the 11000 block of Beach Boulevard on Thursday afternoon.
"I heard this noise that kind of reminded of a bomb going off. It shook the entire building -- the sound of exploding glass associated with like structural crunching sounding-type noise," said store owner D. Peacock.
The van sent two of Peacock's employees flying across the room.
"The first thing that comes to mind is thank God that there is nobody killed. We could have been burying one of our employees yesterday. I just heard my body-piercer repeating, 'Oh my God. Oh my God,'" Peacock said.
The two people hurt in the incident went to an area hospital but were not seriously injured.
"It was a really scary situation for all of us. What keep coming to mind over and over is the reality that no one was killed or seriously injured. That's what I'm most grateful for," Peacock said.
A day later, the window the van had crashed through was boarded up with plywood.
Peacock said the driver of the van was cited by police for careless driving.
