Deputies: Man Hit Neighbor With Ax Handle

POSTED: Monday, October 27, 2008

A 25-year-old Putnam County man was arrested after deputies said he hit a neighbor in the head at least four times with an ax handle.

Sheriff's office Maj. Keith Riddick said Nicholas Scott Pierce struck William Allen Paddock, 47, several times about 9 p.m. Sunday at Pierce's home on Bellamy Road in Florahome.

Investigators were told Price assaulted Paddock after the neighbor made several advances toward Price's wife.

Paddock was flown to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Price is charged with one count of aggravated battery. He was booked into the Putnam County Jail charged and held on $2,504 bond.
