Some GA Unemployment Checks Late
POSTED: Wednesday, November 19, 2008
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The state of Georgia said Tuesday that thousands of unemployment checks have been delayed getting to recipients as the result of federal offices having been closed Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
The checks were not put in the mail until Wednesday. Some of the checks have started arriving, but one of the areas of the state where people are still waiting includes Brunswick and St Marys.
State officials said if you still have not received your check by Thursday, go to the nearest unemployment office, where a replacement check will be cut.
About 4,500 checks have been delayed.
