2 Injured In Wreck Involving Fire Dept. SUV

A fire department SUV rushing to a call was involved in a crash with a pickup truck Friday morning at 21st and Liberty streets that seriously injured one driver.

Channel 4 was told the driver of the pickup was ejected and transported to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center with what were described as life-threatening injuries. The Jacksonville Fire-Rescue vehicle was that of a battalion chief in the SUV was also taken to Shands with less serious injuries.

Neither driver's name was released.

Traffic homicide investigators were called to the scene. Officers said the JFRD vehicle had its lights and siren on at the time of the collision.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the wreck to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 630-0500.
