JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A fast-food complaint turned into a drive-through attack when a manager at a Northwest Jacksonville restaurant said a customer sprayed her with Mace after getting into an argument about changing his order.
The incident took place at the drive-through at Krystals on Lem Turner Road, where the woman was assaulted by an angry customer.
"I turned away, and when I turned around he sprayed me with Mace," said the victim, who asked not to be identified.
"It was in her eyes, in her mouth. It was burning you could tell because her face was swelling up," said restaurant employee Mary Dearmon.
The victim and other employees who were in the restaurant on the day of the attack told Channel 4 the attack happened because the man wanted to change his order and add some items but was told he would have to get back in line.
"He had to drive back around, that was it," Dearmon said.
Employees said the attacker came back about an hour after spaying the manager with Mace. They said this time the man came inside and asked to see the manager.
That's when they said the man dangled the Mace in the victim's face and asked her about her attitude.
"He was like, 'Watch the attitude, baby. Watch the attitude.' Then, he ran back out of the store and almost hit someone," Dearmon said.
”It didn't seem like he was upset, he was laughing about the situation as if it was funny," said restaurant employee Frank Robinson.
Police said they know for whom they're searching, but haven't caught him yet.
Employees said they'll continue to work, but now, working the drive-through has become scarier.
"My job is to get our customers served. Once I took care of myself, it was back to business," the victim said.
