POSTED: Wednesday, January 7, 2009

Police are searching for a man who robbed and assaulted and elderly woman on Friday at the Bentley Green Apartments on Princeton Square Boulevard.

The woman said a black man was walking in the breezeway of the apartment building when the woman was walking home. The man appeared to be acting like he was placing fliers on apartment doors.

As the 81-year-old woman turned to open the door to her apartment the man grabbed her purse and knocked her to the ground. He then fled on foot.

The man is described as 18 years old, 6 feet tall, 150 pounds and wearing a golf shirt and blue jeans.

The woman was transported to a local hospital with apparent broken bones.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS to remain anonymous.
