IMMOKALEE, Fla. -- Authorities in southwest Florida are searching for a 6-year-old boy who went missing over the weekend.
About 150 law enforcement officers are looking for Adji Desir who went missing Saturday in Collier County. Authorities say Adji is developmentally disabled and functions on a 2-year-old level.
Authorities said the boy has a very limited vocabulary. He knows his name and he understands Creole, but cannot speak them. He may be hiding from searchers.
Collier County Sheriff Sgt. Robert Brown said searchers are concentrating on the northwest side of the Farm Worker Villiage. Deputies on horseback and using all-terrain vehicles searched four square miles on Sunday and were hoping to cover that much area on Monday.
Deputies said the boy is described as 3 feet tall and 45 pounds with short black hair and dark eyes.
