Sheriff: We Want To Send A Message To Criminals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced on Thursday the arrests of three drug-trafficking suspects and the seizure of 55 pounds of marijuana.
Alex Campbell, Frederick Campbell and Temario Wiley were arrested in an armed drug trafficking case that investigators have been looking into for the past several days.
Sheriff John Rutherford said his office received a tip that Fredrick Campbell was trafficking drugs in Jacksonville. That's when the JSO Narcotics Unit started to investigate the situation and discovered 155 pounds of marijuana had been sent via UPS to a home on Praver Drive and that such operations had been going on for a few years.
In addition to the drugs, investigators also seized about $500,000 cash and several weapons, including AK-47s and handguns.
With the help of the Florida Department Law Enforcement and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the sheriff said, officers were able to make the arrests.
"We want to send a message to the gun-carrying criminals out there that local, state and federal law enforcement are working very hard together to come after you. If you're going to pick up a gun in Jacksonville, we're going to look at prosecuting you federally as well as within the state statutes," Rutherford said.
All three men are in Duval County Jail charged with armed illegal trafficking of drugs.
