18.5 tons of tires dumped in Flagler County

Sheriff's Office, FWC ask public for help finding who dumped tires

BUNNELL, Fla. – The Flagler County Sheriff's Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officers are asking the public for help finding out who dumped 18.5 tons of tires off North Old Kings Road between Matanzas Woods Parkway and Princess Place Preserve late the night of Aug. 30 or early the next morning.

Deputies say someone used a large trailer to dump the tires. Flagler County had the tires cleaned up and hauled them to the Volusia County landfill at a cost of $4,600.

"Flagler County had a recycling and household hazardous waste facility, so it is a shame that someone chose to dump those tires here," County Administrator Craig Coffey said.

Anyone with information about where the tires came from or who dumped them is asked to call Flagler County Deputy Steve Williams at 386-313-4911 or FWC Officer Eric Mead at 888-404-FWCC. Callers can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477. Tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
