String Of Burglaries Upset Arlington Residents

POSTED: Wednesday, February 25, 2009

A group of East Arlington residents said they're frustrated and fed up with whomever is behind a string of break-ins in their usually quiet neighborhood.

CRIME ALERT
They believe they same person has been hitting up home after home and they've had enough.

"It's started to uproot the community a little bit because we're starting to get frustrated that we haven't been able to keep enough eyes out on the streets to make it safe," said Mark Bagheri

At least four homes have been broken into and a fifth almost hit within the past month on International Village Court, just off Merrill Road hear state Road 9A.

Neighbors in the area believe the same person or group of people is responsible.

"We have seen him lurking around our neighborhood. I know that he has surveillanced and I want it to be on record that we are now surveillancing him," said another victim, Adrianne.

Neighbors said they think the person responsible has been hitting homes without pets because there's no natural alarm inside.

However, some of the homes that have been broken into do have alarm systems that did go off.

"I am mad. I'm infuriated. I'm mad because someone invaded my privacy. How dare they come into my home? On top of that, I took all of the security procedures -- I lock everything and I have an in-home security system and this guy still decided to barge in," said victim Joanna Pavlick.

Police reports state televisions have been stolen along with expensive jewelry.

Neighbors said they are irritated, armed and determined to catch the bold crook. They said they are ready if the culprit is daring enough to come back.

"He is lucky I wasn't there because if I were there, it wouldn't have been a good ending for him," Pavlick said.

Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office who live in the neighborhood are also on the lookout for the burglar.

Anyone with information about the break-ins in East Arlington should call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
