Two drivers of SUVs were killed and the driver of a car sustained a minor injury in a three-vehicle wreck Friday night on state Road 9A in Arlington.

The wreck took place about 6:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes near the Merrill Road exit. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 60-year-old from Lake Wells was northbound when he changed lanes and struck a car. The first vehicle continued across the median and hit a southbound Toyota SUV head on.

The drivers of both SUVs were transported to air ambulance to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center, but died. The Lake Wells victim had not been identified pending notification of family. The victim in the Toyota was 21-year-old Jimmy Paul Le.

The third vehicle was driven by Ali Reza Navazesh. He sustained a minor injury and did not require hospitalization.

Southbound lanes of 9A and on the Dames Point Bridge were shut down for several hours while the accident was investigated and cleared.
