ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Three male suspects are being sought in connection with the beating of another man Wednesday evening. Deputies responded to a report of a battery that occurred at 7:45 p.m. in the area of state Road A1A South and Dondanville Road.
Witnesses told deputies that a 49-year old St. Johns County man was on a bicycle and was talking with one of the men in a parking lot when he struck the victim in the head, knocking him to the ground.
A second man got out of a vehicle and kicked the victim in the head while the man suspect, who also got out of the vehicle, began to pat the victim down.
The victim was transported to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center by air ambulance. The three assailants fled southbound on A1A South.
The three assailants were described as white males in their early 20s. One was 6 feet tall with a thin athletic build with short reddish brown hair in a buzz cut. The second man was between 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, with unknown colored short hair and wearing a ball cap backwards. The third man was about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build and short blonde hair, wearing dark baggy shorts.
The vehicle was described as a newer model gun-metal gray or silver sedan -- possibly a 2005 Nissan Altima. The vehicle reportedly had a dent in the area of the right rear passenger door and had tinted windows.
Anyone with any information concerning this attack is asked to contact Detective James Jackson at the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at 904-824-8304. You can also remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling Crime Stoppers of North Florida at 888-227-8477.
