South Putnam Woman Attacked With Knife

A young Welaka, Fla., woman reported she was attacked and sexually battered by a man with a knife in her home early Thursday morning.The 27-year-old victim reported to a Putnam County deputy that she was awakened about 6 a.m. by a man who had apparently walked into her home through an unlocked door.The suspect, described as a tall, white male with "bad body odor" reportedly cut the victim with a knife or razor and committed sexual battery, then left on foot.The victim was transported to the Putnam Medical Center, where she was treated and released. Detectives have not identified the attacker and were continuing to investigate.
