TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has another job.
The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner was appointed as co-chair of the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness on Wednesday.
"Tim Tebow’s leadership and servanthood both on and off the field make him an ideal candidate," Crist said. "Tim is a true role model who consistently demonstrates the fitness and healthy living characteristics the council is responsible for promoting."
The council was established two years ago to promote health by increasing physical fitness through regular exercise and sound nutrition practices.
Tebow joins an all-star cast of star athletes from the state, including council chair Derrick Brooks, former linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, co-chair Shannon Miller, Olympic gold medal gymnast, tennis star and Olympian Jennifer Capriati, NFL running back Warrick Dunn, Olympic swimmer Nancy Hogshead-Makar, world champion surfer Kelly Slater, and Olympic swimmer Dara Torres.
Besides helping his team win two national championships, Tebow regularly volunteers his time at schools, churches and hospitals. He also makes regular mission trips to the Philippines where he volunteers at a Christian home for orphaned Filipino children.
