JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man accused of shining a 15-million candlepower spotlight at Navy aircraft last year was sentenced Thursday to just over one year in prison.
Henry J. Gros, 56, had pleaded guilty in December to one count of reckless interference with naval aircraft.
According to the plea agreement, Gros tried to blind the pilots of VAW-120 as they were landing E-2B Hawkeye aircraft at the Whitehouse landing strip on Jacksonville's Westside in May 2008.
U.S. District Judge Henry Lee Adams Jr. sentenced Gros to one year and one day in federal prison.
This case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
