POSTED: Wednesday, May 20, 2009

The Florida Highway Patrol was investigating a Levy County crash involving a school bus. According to troopers, 16-year-old Christina Wiggins of Morriston and 13-year-old Chris Wiggins of Chiefland were traveling westbound on Lake Street and stopped for the stop sign at CR-337. A Levy County school bus was traveling south on CR-337, past Lake Street. Wiggins turned left to travel south on CR-337 and hit the rear of the bus.

There were 6 students and 1 passenger on the bus. The bus driver has been identified as 53-year-old Joe Rain of Chiefland. No students, passengers or drivers in either vehicle were injured. Wiggins was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic when making a left turn.
