JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Channel 4 has learned that talk of two historic Riverside buildings being torn down to make room for a drive-through pharmacy is not true.
The buildings in question have been for sale for about two years. One is at 1732 Margaret Street, and the other is located at 2008 Riverside Avenue. The Riverside-Avondale Preservation Society wants to see both buildings kept intact.
A developer, the Renaissance Group, owns both buildings. Their company president said right now there are no plans to build a pharmacy there. "Let me say this, I don't have an offer, I don't have a contract with anyone right now," said Carlton Jones.
The developer said an Orlando business did look into the possibility of building a pharmacy, but that nothing ever came of it.
