JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man who remains in the hospital six weeks after he was injured in a car accident that smashed into a St. Augustine hotel lobby is suing the valet driver and the Standard Parking Corporation, a national company that runs the hotel's valet operation.
Dennis Sullivan was working as a banquet captain at the Casa Monica hotel April 16 when a car rammed into him.
"One moment he was working, and the next he was on his back," the victim's daughter, Erica Sullivan said.
Sullivan's leg was shattered and he suffered internal injuries. After six weeks and four surgeries, he is still in intensive care and in need of a liver transplant.
Investigators said the driver mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake.
"He doesn't need to go through any more suffering, and we know this is going to be a really long road," Erica Sullivan said. "We want to make sure we can be by his side all the time and that he'll make it through this."
The lawsuit seeks more than $15,000 in damages.
