A Palm Coast man out with his mother Sunday afternoon was arrested after he tried to rob the Starbucks and a woman at a neighboring drug store, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
Craig Nelson Warner, 34, is charged with robbery and strong armed robbery by sudden snatching.
Warner’s mother told deputies she was driving Warner to the hospital for a check up when they stopped at Starbucks on Palm Coast Parkway for coffee.
Witnesses in the coffee shop told deputies that Warner entered the store and told a patron, "He was going to rob this place."
Deputies said that Warner attempted to grabbed the register and remove it from the counter. When that failed, deputies said he ran across the street to Walgreen's.
A 2:15 p.m., Flagler County deputies were in route to a robbery in progress at the Starbucks when a second call came in of a hold-up in progress across the street at the Walgreen's Pharmacy.
Once inside Walgreens, deputies said Warner attempted to snatch a purse from a woman customer, who resisted and suffered a minor injury to her hand which did not require medical attention.
Flagler County Deputy Ashley Castorena said he found Warner at the front of the store near the check out and took him into custody.
"The rapid response of our units and the cooperation of the witnesses resulted in the quick arrest of this man," said Sheriff Donald W. Fleming.
Warner was being held without bond in the Flagler County Inmate Facility on Monday morning.
