Talleyrand Streets Reopen After Blasts

Police Release No Information About What Was Found In Group Home

POSTED: Tuesday, June 2, 2009
UPDATED: 2:56 pm EDT June 2,2009

Three detonations were heard at midday Tuesday in the Talleyrand area as the bomb squad investigated something found in an assisted living facility on East Eighth Street.

Channel 4 was told something suspicious was found inside a room at the Bishop Christian Home in the 1600 block of East Eighth Street, but police did not release any information about what was found.

Police blocked traffic on Eighth Street at the Haines Street Expressway at mid-morning as bomb squad personnel and equipment were seen entering the restricted area. About 1:30 p.m., Eighth Street was reopened to traffic.

Other than saying they were following procedure to "render something safe," police provided no details what was found. Officers said the incident is still under investigation.
