ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Authorities in Pinellas County believe a 20-year-old volleyball coach stole jewelry from one of her teenage players.
Jessica Gaurino was arrested Tuesday and charged with dealing in stolen property. It is unclear if she has an attorney.
Gaurino is accused of trying to pawn a 14-karat gold necklace that belonged to a player.
The teenager told police that Gaurino told her to take off the necklace during a game in April. The teenager says the necklace was placed in a bag, but was gone when she went to retrieve it from her coach the next day.
St. Petersburg city recreation director Sherry McBee says Gaurino will be suspended with pay and officials will conduct an internal investigation.
