Pedestrian Hit, Killed Near St. Augustine

Man Was Crossing S.R. 16 When Struck

A 53-year-old man hit by a car while walking on state Road 16 Thursday evening has died.

St. Johns County deputies said a car was heading east crossing the bridge near Lewis Speedway just before 10 p.m. when it struck Guy Coleman, from St. Augustine, who was crossing S.R. 16. Coleman was transported to Flagler Hospital, but could not be saved.

The incident remains under investigation by the St. Augustine Police Department.
